Your questions,
answered

Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?+
Research consistently shows group therapy can be just as effective as individual therapy โ€” and for many concerns, even more so. The group dynamic adds a unique healing dimension: witnessing others, feeling witnessed, and building real connections.
How do I know which group is right for me?+
That's exactly what the free discovery call is for! Dr. Fatuma will talk with you about your current situation, your goals, and which group will be the best fit for where you are right now.
Is everything confidential?+
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of all groups. All members agree to a confidentiality agreement. What's shared in the group stays in the group.
Do I need to be in individual therapy too?+
Not necessarily. Group therapy can stand alone or complement individual therapy. During your discovery call, Dr. Fatuma will give you a personalized recommendation based on your needs.
Are the groups only for Muslim women?+
Only the "Better Bonds" group is specifically designed for Muslim women. All other groups welcome women of all backgrounds and identities. Dr. Fatuma's practice is inclusive and affirming of all communities.
What platform are sessions held on?+
All sessions are held via HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll need a device with a camera and a private, comfortable space. Details will be provided after enrollment.
What if I need to miss a session?+
Life happens. Dr. Fatuma asks for advance notice when possible. Since groups are built on consistency and trust, regular attendance is important โ€” but the occasional absence won't remove you from the group.
Does insurance cover group therapy?+
Currently, sessions are self-pay and not covered by insurance. At $65/week, group therapy is significantly more affordable than individual therapy. Some FSA/HSA plans may cover therapy services โ€” check with your provider.
